About the Video Notepad

The Video Notepad puts a YouTube video and a notes pad on the same screen so you can watch and write at once, without tabbing back and forth. Click the Timestamp button and it drops the video's current time into your notes — so later you can see exactly where in the video each note came from. Everything you type is saved automatically in your browser, so your notes are still here when you come back.

How to use it

  1. Paste a YouTube link and load the video on the left.
  2. Type your notes on the right as you watch.
  3. Press Timestamp whenever you reach something worth marking, so you can jump back to that exact moment later.
  4. Use Copy to take your notes elsewhere, or Clear to start fresh.

Get more out of it

The biggest mistake people make is transcribing — trying to write down everything that's said. It feels productive but you end up with pages you never reopen. Instead, capture ideas in your own words, time-stamp anything confusing or important, and pause freely to think. A short summary at the end of each video is the part you'll reread first.

Frequently asked questions

Will my notes be saved if I close the tab?
Yes. Notes are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device, so they're still here when you return. Clearing your browser data will remove them.
Are my notes private?
Your notes never leave your device — they aren't uploaded to any server. They live only in your own browser.
What does the timestamp button do?
It inserts the video's current playback time into your notes, giving you a marker you can use to find that exact moment again later.
