Creator research / experiment design

Three ideas.
One clear test.

Write a title and thumbnail brief before you change the packaging. Define what viewers should expect, what varies and what an inconclusive result would mean.

This is a planning worksheet. Run eligible tests in YouTube Studio; YTGrid does not serve variants or predict performance. Read the worked example →

The plan stays in this browser. Export a copy to keep it elsewhere.

1. Set the promise and the constraint

2. Make each variant test a different idea

Variant A
Variant B
Variant C

3. Decide how you will learn from the result

Before you run it

These checks flag incomplete fields and mismatched variables. They do not measure creativity, truthfulness, likely views or statistical significance.

Why plan when you can generate another title?

It is easy to create three phrases that express the same idea. It is harder to explain which viewer problem each phrase addresses and what evidence the video supplies. This worksheet makes those decisions visible. You can draft ideas yourself or with assistance; either way, inspect every claim against the actual video.

Use the native test result

YouTube’s A/B test titles & thumbnails documentation describes comparing up to three title or thumbnail options using watch-time share. YouTube announced title testing in September 2025. Check the controls and eligibility in your own Studio account: a dated announcement does not establish which options your account currently has.

A manual swap from Monday’s title to Friday’s title also changes time, audience and traffic conditions. Treat that result as an observation, not a controlled estimate of the title’s effect. An inconclusive native test is a valid result; this planner does not turn it into a winner.

What this tool saves

One plan is kept in local storage, if your browser allows it. Export the Markdown brief before clearing browser data or starting another plan. No channel connection, video upload or analytics access is required.
